At Onriva, we are committed to protecting and safeguarding any personal data you provide us. At Onriva, we take reasonable and professional efforts to protect customers' interests and are transparent about how we process our customers' data.

This document describes how we use and process your data. This document also lets you know how to contact Onriva. if you have questions about your data. You should also review our Cookie Statement, which tells you how Onriva.com makes use of cookies and other similar technologies. For a better understanding of what we mean by our services and purposes, please read the Onriva.com Terms and Conditions.

Onriva.com offers online travel-related services through our websites and mobile apps, as well as through other online platforms like partners' websites and social media. Onriva has several platforms; this Privacy Statement applies to all.

The Privacy Statement applies to all information we collect through these platforms or other means connected to these platforms, such as email and communications with our Customer Service team. If you're one of our business partners, review our Privacy Statement and Third Party Policy to understand how personal data is processed and protected as part of a business relationship.

We reserve the right to amend the Privacy Statement from time to time. If we make changes to the Privacy Statement, which will have an impact on you (e.g., if we intend to process your data for purposes not included in this Privacy Statement), Onriva will reference those changes in its Privacy Statement, please review this statement when using any Onriva service.

If you disagree with this Privacy Statement, you should discontinue using our services.

What kind of personal information does Onriva.com collect?

We can't help you book your travel without information about you, such as your name, preferred contact information, the names of people traveling with you, and your payment information. We also capture any special requests or preferences you submit for upcoming trips. Onriva also collects information from your computer, phone tablet, or other device you're using to access our services. This can include the IP address, the browser you're using, and your language settings. There are also situations when we receive information about you from others or automatically collect other information. We'll cover this situation more below.

Why does Onriva.com collect and use your personal data?

The reason we ask for your personal details is to help administer your online bookings and ensure you get the best service possible. Onriva may also use your data to contact you and inform you about our latest deals and special offers that we think would interest you. The main uses of our personal data include:

  1. Trip Reservations: First and foremost, we use your personal data to complete and administer your online reservations, which is central to what we do as a company. This includes sending you communications related to your reservations, such as confirmations, modifications, and reminders.

  2. Customer service: We provide international customer service, available 24/7. Sharing your relevant details—such as reservation info or info about your user account—with our global customer service staff allows us to respond when you need us, which includes helping you with any questions about your travel, changes you need to make, or any other issues.

  3. Account facilities: Onriva.com users create an account, and we use the info you give us to administer this account, enabling you to do a number of useful things. You can manage your Trip Reservations, take advantage of special offers, make future Trip Reservations, and manage your personal settings. Managing personal settings lets you keep and share lists, share photos, view previously searched trip services, and check other travel-related info you've provided. It also enables you to see the reviews you've submitted. If you want, you can share particular info in your user account by creating a public profile that's associated with either your first name or a screen name of your choice. Onriva.com for Business account holders can save contact details in their account facility, manage their business reservations, and link other account holders to the Onriva.com for Business account.

  4. Online groups: We may enable users with an account to join and interact with each other through online groups or forums.

  5. Marketing activities: We use your information for marketing activities, including:

    • Using your contact information to send you news about travel-related products and services. You can easily update your communication preferences and unsubscribe from email marketing communications by clicking the "Manage Subscriptions" link included in each communication from Onriva.

    • Based on your information, individualized offers might be shown to you on the Onriva.com website, in mobile apps, or on third-party websites/apps (including social media sites). The content of the site you see might also be personalized, such as offers that you can book directly on Onriva.com or on co-branded sites, or third-party offers or products we think might interest you.

    • When you participate in other promotional activities (such as sweepstakes, referral programs, or competitions), the relevant information is required to administer these promotions.

    • Mobile information will not be shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.

  6. Communicating with you: There may be times when we get in touch, including by email, mail, phone, or text. The method depends on the contact info you share with us. We process your communications for several reasons, including:

    • Responding to and handling any requests about your trips. Onriva.com offers guests and Trip Providers various means to exchange information, requests, and comments about Trip Providers and existing Trip Reservations through Onriva.com. We'll talk more about this shortly.

    • If you haven't finalized a Trip Reservation online, we may contact you with a reminder to continue with your reservation. This benefits you because you can carry on with a Trip Reservation without having to search for a Trip Provider or fill in your reservation details again.

    • When you use our services, we might send you a questionnaire or invite you to provide a review of your experience with Onriva.com or the Trip Provider.

    • We might also send you other materials related to your reservations, such as how to contact Onriva.com if you need assistance while you're traveling, and information that we feel could be useful to you in planning your trip or getting the best out of your stay. We might also send you material related to your upcoming reservations or a summary of previous bookings you made through Onriva.com.

    • Even if you don't have a future reservation, we might need to send you other administrative messages, which can include security alerts.

  7. Market research: Sometimes, we ask our customers to participate in market research.

  8. Improving our services: We also use personal data for analytical purposes. We strive to improve our services and create a better user experience, and sometimes information is necessary to test, troubleshoot, and improve the functionality and quality of our online travel services. Our main goal is to optimize and customize our online platform to your needs, making our site easier and more enjoyable to use. We strive to only use anonymized data for these analytics.

  9. Guest reviews and other destination-related info: During and after a Trip you book through us, you may be asked to submit a review. This invite asks for information about the Trip Provider or the destination. Account-holders can choose to post anonymously, with a screen name or with their real name (selectable in the user account settings). Adding an avatar is also possible. By completing a guest review, you agree that it can be displayed on (as described in detail in our Terms and Conditions) the relevant Trip Provider information page on our websites, our mobile apps, our social media accounts, social media apps, and the online platform of the relevant Trip Provider or business partner's website. This is to inform other travelers about the quality of the Trip Service you used, the destination you have chosen, or the different experiences you want to share.

  10. Call monitoring: When you call our customer service team, Onriva.com uses an automated phone number detection system to connect your phone number to your existing reservations, which helps save time for both you and our customer support staff. Our customer service staff may still ask for verification, which ensures your reservation details remain confidential. During calls with our customer service team, live listening might be conducted, or calls might be recorded for quality control and training, which includes using the recordings to handle claims and fraud detection. Not all calls are recorded; recordings are kept for a limited amount of time, then automatically deleted unless Onriva.com has a legitimate interest to keep these recordings longer, such as fraud investigation or legal purposes.

  11. Promotion of a safe and trustworthy service: To create a positive and reliable environment for you, your fellow travelers, Onriva.com business partners, and our Trip Providers, we may use personal data for the detection and prevention of fraud and other illegal or unwanted activities. Similarly, we may use personal data for risk assessment and security, including the authentication of users and reservations. For these purposes, we may have to stop or put individual reservations on hold until we finish our assessment.

  12. Legal purposes: Finally, we may need to use your info to handle and resolve legal disputes, regulatory investigations and compliance, to enforce the terms of use of the Onriva.com online reservation service, or to comply with lawful requests from law enforcement.

  13. Providing your data to Onriva.com is voluntary. However, depending on the type of service you want to use, we might only be able to provide you with this service if we collect certain personal data. For instance, we cannot process your Trip Reservation if we don't collect your name and contact details.

  14. If we use automated means to process personal data that produces legal effects or significantly affects you, we will implement suitable measures to safeguard your rights and freedoms, including the right to obtain human intervention.

To process your personal data as described above, we rely on the following legal bases:

For Trip Reservations and Customer Service, Onriva.com relies on the legal basis that the processing of your personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract, namely to finalize and administer your Trip Reservation. If the required personal information is not provided, Onriva.com cannot complete the Trip Reservation, nor can we provide customer service. For the remaining purposes stated above, Onriva.com, relies on its legitimate commercial business interest to provide its services, to prevent fraud, and to improve its services. When using personal data to serve Onriva.com or a third party's legitimate interest, Onriva.com will always balance your rights and interests in the protection of your data against Onriva.com's rights and interests or those of the third party. For Legal Purposes, Onriva.com also relies on what's required to comply with legal obligations (such as lawful law enforcement requests). Where needed under applicable law, Onriva.com will obtain your consent before processing your data for direct marketing purposes.

If you want to object to the use of your personal data for points 3 to 14 above and no opt-out mechanism is available to you directly (e.g., in your account settings), feel free to contact Onriva.com.

How does Onriva.com process communications that you and your booked Trip Provider might send to Onriva.com?

Onriva.com offers you and Trip Provider partners various means to communicate about the Trip Services and existing Trip Reservations, directing the communications through Onriva.com. This allows you and your Trip Provider to contact Onriva.com with questions about your reservation or about your Trip Reservation partners through the My Booking Page, the Onriva.com app, and other channels that we may make available.

Onriva.com accesses communications and may use automated systems to review, scan, and analyze communications for the following reasons:

  • security
  • fraud prevention
  • compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • investigations of potential misconduct
  • product development and improvement
  • research
  • customer engagement, including to provide you with information and offers that we believe may be of interest to you
  • customer or technical support

We reserve the right to block the delivery of or review communications that we, in our sole discretion, believe may contain malicious content, spam, or may pose a risk to you, accommodation partners, Trip Providers, or others. All communications sent or received using Onriva.com communication tools will be stored by Onriva.com. If you book with a business partner they may choose to communicate with you directly by email or other communication channels that Onriva.com does not control.

Who is responsible for the processing of personal data on Onriva.com and how to contact us?

Onriva.com controls the processing of personal data. Onriva.com is a private limited liability company incorporated under the laws of Delaware and has its offices at 1065 East Hillsdale Blvd, Suite 215, Foster City, California 94004.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Statement or how we process your data, please contact our data protection officer at Onriva.com. For questions about your reservation, please contact our customer service team through Onriva.com.

Personal data you provide to Onriva.

Onriva.com collects and uses information that you provide us. When you make a Trip Reservation, you (at a minimum) provide your name and email address. Depending on the Trip Reservation, we might require your home address, telephone number, payment information, date of birth, the names of any guests traveling with you, and any preferences you have (e.g., meal preferences or mobility restrictions).

If you need to get in touch with our customer service team or reach out to us through other means (e.g. using social media, communicating with your booked Trip Provider through us), we'll also collect information from you then. Guests may also be asked to provide a review to help future guests get the service they're looking for. We'll collect information from you included in your reviews, like your display name and avatar, if you choose one.

In addition, if you're browsing with your mobile device, you can decide to enable Onriva.com to see your current location or grant access to your contact details. This helps us provide you with the best possible service and experience (e.g. to see our city guides, the nearest restaurants & attractions, or other recommendations). You can also open a user account, which allows you to save your settings, upload photos, review previous Onriva trips, plan and manage future reservations and benefit from other features only available to account holders (such as incentives or other benefits we might offer).

You can decide to participate in referral programs or sweepstakes, which involve providing us with personal data. You can also give us feedback or ask for help with using Onriva.com travel services.

Personal data you give us about others.

If you're making a Trip Reservation for other guests or that includes other guests, you'll need to provide their details. If you maintain an Onriva.com for Business account, you can create an address book to facilitate business travel and to manage travel for others. In some cases, you can use Onriva.com to share information with others. For example, you might forward a wish list or participate in a referral program. Such information can only be used as described in the offer – check the details there if you want to learn more.

It's your responsibility to ensure the person or people you've provided personal information about are aware that you've done so and have accepted how Onriva.com uses their information (as described in this privacy statement).

Personal data we collect automatically.

Whether or not you make a Trip Reservation, when you visit our websites or apps we automatically collect certain information. This includes your IP address, the date and time you accessed our services, the hardware, software, or internet browser you used and information about your computer's operating system, such as application versions and language settings. We also collect information about clicks and which pages you viewed.

If you're using a mobile device, we might also collect data that identifies your mobile device, device-specific settings and characteristics, location details, app crashes, and other system activity. When you make a reservation, our system registers through which means and from which websites you made your reservation or entered the Onriva.com websites and apps.

Personal data we receive from other sources.

We might also receive information about you from other sources. These include business partners, such as affiliate partners, subsidiaries of the Onriva.com corporate family, other affiliates of the Onriva corporate family, and other independent third parties. Anything we get from them can be combined with information provided by you. For example, the Onriva.com reservation services are not only made available by Onriva.com and the Onriva.com apps but are also integrated into the services of affiliate partners you find online. When you use these, you provide the reservation details to our business partner, who then forwards your details to us. We also integrate third-party service providers to facilitate payment between bookers and Trip Providers. These service providers share payment information, so we can administer and handle your Trip Reservation, making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for you. We might use some of the information, such as cookie data made available to Onriva.com by social media partners, to deliver more relevant advertisements to you.

Another example is how we integrate communication services into our platforms to let you connect with the booked Trip Provider about your stay. When you contact them we receive metadata such as where you called from, who you are, the date and length of the call, etc.

When you link your Onriva.com user account to your social media account, personal data might be shared with Onriva.com by that social media provider, but only if you agree. You always have the choice not to share this data.

Trip Providers might also share information about you with Onriva.com. This might happen if you have support questions about your pending reservation or when disputes arise about a Trip.

How does Onriva.com share your data with third parties?

In certain circumstances, we'll share your personal data with third parties.

  1. The Trip Provider You Booked: In order to complete your Trip Reservation, we transfer relevant reservation details to the Trip Provider you've booked. Depending on the Trip Reservation and the Trip Provider, this can include your name, contact details, payment details, the names of guests traveling with you, and any preferences or other info you specified when you made your Trip Reservation. If you have a question about your Trip, we may contact the Trip Provider and ask them to handle your request. Unless payment is made during the Onriva process through the Onriva.com website, we'll forward your credit card details to the booked Trip Provider for further handling (assuming you've provided us with those details during your Onriva process). In cases of reservation-related disputes, we may give the Trip Provider information about the reservation process as needed to handle the dispute. This may include a copy of your reservation confirmation as proof that a Trip Reservation was actually made.

  2. Your Local Onriva.com Office: In order to support the use of the Onriva.com services, your details may be shared with subsidiaries of the Onriva.com corporate family. They typically act as service providers for Onriva.com, offering services such as customer support.

  3. Third-party service providers: We use service providers, which are not part of the Onriva.com corporate family, to support us in providing the Onriva.com services. These service providers offer support services such as:

    • Customer support
    • Market research
    • Fraud detection and prevention services, including anti-fraud screening service
    • Payment services (We use third parties to process payments, handle chargebacks, or provide billing collection services. When either you or the holder of the credit card used to make your reservation request a chargeback for your Trip Reservation, we need to share specific reservation details with the payment service provider and the relevant financial institution to handle the chargeback. This could include a copy of your reservation confirmation or the IP address used to make your reservation. We might share information with relevant financial institutions if we consider it strictly necessary for fraud detection and prevention purposes.)
  4. Marketing services. We share personal data with advertising partners, including your email address, as part of marketing the Onriva.com services through third parties (to ensure that relevant advertisements are shown to the right audience). We strive to only share email addresses in hashed form to enable the matching of your email address with an existing customer database so your email address can't be used for other purposes. For more information on personalized advertisements and your choices, take a look at "How are cookies used?" and "What are your choices?" in our Cookie Statement. All service providers are required to continue to safeguard your data adequately.

  5. Competent Authorities: We disclose personal data to law enforcement insofar as it is required by law or is strictly necessary for the prevention, detection or prosecution of criminal acts and fraud or if we're otherwise legally obliged to do so. We may need to further disclose personal data to competent authorities to protect and defend our rights or properties, or the rights and properties of our business partners.

  6. Business Partners: We work with many business partners around the world. These business partners distribute or advertise Onriva.com services, including the services and products of our Trip Providers. When you make a reservation on one of our business partners' websites or apps, certain personal data that you give them, such as your name and email address, your mailing address, payment details, and other relevant information, will be forwarded to us to finalize and administer your Trip Reservation. If the business partner provides customer service, Onriva.com will share details relevant to your reservation with the business partners (as and when needed) to provide you with appropriate and efficient support. When you make a reservation through one of our business partner's websites, the business partners can receive certain parts of your data related to the specific booking, such as your name and email address. This is for their internal purposes (such as analytics) and, if requested by you, to administer loyalty programs or marketing.

When you make a reservation on a business partner's website, take the time to read their privacy notice if you want to understand how these business partners may process your data. For fraud detection and prevention purposes and as strictly necessary, we may also exchange information about our users with business partners.

  7. The Onriva Corporate Family: We share your information with the Onriva corporate family.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

The transmission of personal data, as described in this Privacy Statement, may include overseas transfers of personal data to countries whose data protection laws are not as comprehensive as those of the countries within the European Union. Where required by European law, we shall only transfer personal data to recipients offering an adequate level of data protection. In these situations, as may be required, we make contractual arrangements to ensure that your personal data is still protected in line with European standards. You can contact us for a copy of these agreements.

How is your personal data shared within the Onriva corporate family?

Onriva.com is part of the Onriva corporate family.

We might receive personal data about you from other companies of the Onriva Holdings Inc. corporate family or share your personal data with them for the following purposes:

  1. To provide services (including to make, administer, and manage reservations or handle payments)
  2. To provide customer support services
  3. To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, other illegal activities, and data breaches
  4. For analytical and product improvement purposes
  5. To provide personalized offers, send you marketing with your consent, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law
  6. To ensure compliance with applicable laws

Unless indicated otherwise, for purposes 1 to 5, Onriva.com relies on its legitimate interest to share and receive personal data. For objective 6, Onriva.com relies, where applicable, on compliance with legal obligations (e.g., lawful law enforcement requests).

For example, Onriva.com works closely with Rentalcars.com to offer ground transport services to its customers. All companies within the Onriva Holdings Inc. group of companies might need to exchange customers' data to ensure it protects all users from fraudulent activities on their online platforms.

How does Onriva.com process communications that you and your booked Trip Provider may send through Onriva.com?

Onriva.com offers you and Trip Provider partners various means to communicate about the Trip Services and existing Trip Reservations through Onriva.com. This allows you and your Trip Provider to contact Onriva.com with questions about your reservation through the My Onriva Page, the Onriva.com app, and other channels that we may make available.

Onriva.com accesses communications and may use automated systems to review, scan, and analyze communications for the following reasons:

  • security
  • fraud prevention
  • compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • investigations of potential misconduct
  • product development and improvement
  • research
  • customer engagement, including to provide you with information and offers that we believe may be of interest to you
  • customer or technical support.

We reserve the right to block the delivery of or review communications that we, in our sole discretion, believe may contain malicious content, spam, or may pose a risk to you, accommodation partners, Onriva.com, or others. All communications sent or received using Onriva.com communication tools will be stored by Onriva.com. If you book with a business partner they may choose to communicate with you directly by email or other channels that Onriva.com does not control.

How does Onriva.com use mobile devices?

We offer free apps for a variety of mobile devices, as well as versions of our regular website that have been optimized for mobile and tablet browsing. These apps and mobile websites process the personal details you give us in much the same way as our website does, and they also allow you to use location services to find Trip Services nearby if you want to. With your consent, we may send you to push notifications with information about your Trip Reservation. You may grant us access to your location data or contact details in order to provide the services you requested. When you upload a picture from your mobile device, your picture may also be tagged with your location information. Please read your mobile device's instructions to understand how to change settings, enable data sharing, and receive push notifications.

We make use of something known as cross-device tracking in order to optimize our services and marketing activities. This may be done with or without the use of cookies. For more information about cookies and other similar technologies, please see our Cookie Statement. With cross-device tracking, Onriva.com is able to track user behavior across multiple devices. For example, in order to optimize the content of the Onriva.com newsletter, Onriva.com combines the searches and reservations made from different computers and devices (you can unsubscribe from the Onriva.com newsletter anytime).

Personalized advertisements shown to you on other websites or in apps can be offered based on your activities on linked computers and devices. By amending your cookie settings on your device (see in our Cookie Statement under "What are your choices"), you can change your cross-device tracking settings for advertisement purposes. You should know that logging out of your user account will not mean that you no longer receive personalized advertisements.

How does Onriva.com use social media?

We use social media to facilitate the use of online reservation services, to promote our Trip Providers' travel-related products and services, and to advertise, improve, and facilitate our services. You don't have to use social media features.

  1. Login with your social media account. You can sign into an Onriva.com user account with your social media account, which saves you from having to remember different user names and passwords for various online services. After you've signed in once, you'll always be able to use your social media account to sign in to your Onriva.com account. You can decouple these accounts from each other at any time.

  2. Integration of social media plugins: We have integrated social media plugins into the Onriva.com website and apps. This means that when you click on one of the buttons (such as Facebook's "Like" button), certain information is shared with these social media providers. If you're logged in to your social media account at the same time, your social media provider may share your actions with others in your network.

  3. Other social media services and features. We may integrate other social media services (like social media messaging). We may maintain social media accounts and offer apps on several social media sites. Whenever you connect with Onriva.com through social media, your social media service provider may allow you to share information with Onriva.com. If you choose to share, your social media provider will tell you which information will be shared. For example, when you log into an Onriva.com user account with your social media account, certain information (as authorized by you to your social media provider) may be shared with Onriva.com. This might include your email address, age, or profile pictures saved in your user account.

When you register with an Onriva.com social media app or connect to a social media messaging service without having a Onriva.com user account, the information you choose to share with us may include the basic information available in your social media profile (including your email address, status updates and a list of your contacts). We'll use this information to help provide you with the service you requested – for example, to forward a message you want to send to your contacts or to create a personalized user experience in our app or websites. If you want us to, we can customize our services to fit your needs, connecting you and your friends with the best travel destinations and analyzing and enhancing our travel-related services. Your social media provider will be able to tell you more about how they use and process your data whenever you connect with Onriva.com through them, for instance by combining personal data they collect when you use Onriva.com through them with the information they collect when you use other online platforms linked with your social media provider.

What security and retention procedures does Onriva.com put in place to safeguard your personal data?

We observe reasonable procedures to prevent unauthorized access to, and the misuse of, personal data.
We use appropriate business systems and procedures to protect and safeguard the personal data you give us. We also use security procedures and technical and physical restrictions for accessing and using the personal data on our servers. Only authorized personnel are permitted to access personal data in the course of their work.

We will retain your personal data for as long as we deem it necessary to enable you to use our services, to provide our services to you (including maintaining your online user account – if created), to comply with applicable laws, to resolve disputes with any parties, and otherwise as necessary to allow us to conduct our business, including to detect and prevent fraud or other illegal activities. All personal data we retain will be subject to this Privacy Statement.

How does Onriva.com treat personal data about children?

The services offered by Onriva.com are not directed at children under 16 years old. For children younger than 16 years old, the use of any of our services is only allowed with the valid consent of a parent or guardian. In limited cases as part of a reservation or purchase, or in exceptional other circumstances (such as features addressed to families), Onriva.com may collect and use the information of children only as provided by the parent or guardian or with their consent. If we become aware that we process information of a child under 16 years old without the valid consent of a parent or guardian, we reserve the right to delete it.

How can you control the personal data you've given to Onriva.com?

We want you to be in control of how your personal data is used by us. You can do this in the following ways:

  1. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  2. You can inform us of any changes to your personal data, or you can ask us to correct any of the personal data we hold about you, though you may be able to make such changes yourself as explained below.
  3. In certain situations, you can ask us to erase, block, or restrict the processing of the personal data we hold about you, or object to particular ways in which we are using your personal data.
  4. In certain situations, you can also ask us to send the personal data you've given us to a third party.

Where we use your personal data on the basis of your consent, you are entitled to withdraw that consent at any time subject to applicable law. Moreover, where we process your personal data based on legitimate interest or the public interest, you have the right to object at any time to that use of your personal data subject to applicable law.

Cookie Statement

Whenever you use our online services and applications, cookies and other tracking technologies can be used in various ways, such as making the Onriva.com website work, to analyze traffic, or to drive advertisement. Either we or our business partners, including third-party service providers and advertisers, may use these services.

What's a Cookie?

A cookie is a small amount of data that's placed in the browser of your computer or on your mobile device. "First-party cookies" are cookies served by the entity operating the domain through which the cookie is served. Onriva.com's cookies are therefore "first-party cookies." If we allow others to serve cookies through the Onriva.com websites and apps, these cookies are called "third-party cookies."

In addition, there's a difference between session cookies and permanent cookies. Session cookies only exist until you close your browser. Permanent cookies aren't automatically deleted when you close your browser. We strive to serve cookies or allow the serving of cookies with a maximum lifespan of 5 years. Only in exceptional circumstances, such as for security purposes and where absolutely necessary, will a cookie have a longer lifespan than that.

We use additional tracking technologies similar to cookies. These can include web beacons (also known as pixel tags, web bugs, or gifs), tracking URLs, or software development kits (SDKs). A web beacon is a tiny graphic image of just one pixel that can be delivered to your computer as part of a web page request in an app, in an advertisement, or in an HTML email message. Pixels can be used to retrieve info from your device, such as your device type or operating system, IP address, and time of visit. They're also used to serve and read cookies in your browser. Tracking URLs are used to understand from what referring website the Onriva.com websites or apps are used. SDKs are small pieces of code included in apps that function like cookies and web beacons. All these technologies together are referred to in this Cookie Statement as "cookies."

How are cookies used?

Cookies are used for different purposes. They allow you to be recognized as the same user across the different pages of a website, between websites, or when you use an app. The types of info that we collect through cookies include IP address, device ID, viewed pages, browser type, browsing info, operating system, internet service provider, timestamp, whether you have responded to an advertisement, the referring URL, and features used or activities engaged in within the website/apps.

Our website and apps use cookies for these purposes:

  • Technical Cookies: We aim to give our visitors advanced, user-friendly websites and apps that adapt automatically to their needs and wishes. To achieve this we use technical cookies to show you our websites, to make them function correctly, to create your user account, to sign you in, and to manage your bookings. These technical cookies are absolutely necessary for our website to function properly.

  • Functional Cookies: We also use functional cookies to remember your preferences and help you use our website and apps efficiently and effectively. For example, if you're using the Onriva.com websites or apps to search for a Trip, these cookies remember your preferred currency, language, searches, and previously viewed Trip Providers. We might also use cookies to remember your registration info so that you don't have to retype your login credentials each time you visit our site. Passwords will always be encrypted. These functional cookies aren't strictly necessary for the functioning of our website or apps, but they add functionality and enhance your Onriva.com experience.

  • Analytics Cookies: We use these cookies to gain insight into how our visitors use Onriva.com. This means we can find out what works and what doesn't, optimize and improve our websites or apps, understand the effectiveness of advertisements and communications, and ensure we continue to be interesting and relevant. The data we gather can include which web pages you've viewed, which referring/exit pages you've entered and left from, which platform you've used, which emails you've opened and acted upon, and date and timestamp info.

    • It also means we can use details about how you interacted with the site, like the number of clicks you make on a given page, your mouse movements and scrolling activity, the search words you use, and the text you enter into various fields. We use analytics cookies as part of our online advertising campaigns to learn how users interact with our website or apps after they've been shown an online advertisement. This may include advertisements on third-party websites. Analytics cookies may also be used to enable our business partners to learn if their customers use accommodation offers integrated into their websites.

  • Commercial Cookies: We use third-party cookies as well as our own to display personalized advertisements on our websites and on other websites. This is called "retargeting," and it's based on browsing activities such as the destinations you've searched, the accommodations you've viewed, and the prices you've been shown.

What are your choices?

To learn more about cookies and how to manage or delete them, visit allaboutcookies.org and the help section of your browser. Where you find these settings depends on your browser – use the "Help" function in your browser to locate the settings you need.

If you decide not to accept certain technical and/or functional cookies, you might not be able to use some functions on our website. We currently don't support "Do Not Track" browser settings. If a common standard is developed that defines what exactly will be meant by "Do Not Track" browser signals, we'll review our Cookie Statement again.
